Questions

How accurate is the Glowforge time?

Glowforge speeds are an arbitrary 100–1000 scale and the company publishes no conversion. We use the mapping owners measured from real jobs (engrave 1000 ≈ 335 in/min, cut 500 ≈ 157 in/min) plus an allowance for acceleration and travel between shapes. Expect roughly ±15% on the first file. Enter the actual print time once and the estimate is scaled for you; Pro remembers that per machine.

LightBurn already shows me the time. Why this?

It does, once your device settings are tuned, and this tool is not trying to replace it. What LightBurn does not do is turn minutes into a price that covers material, your labour, Etsy fees and margin, keep that quote for the repeat order, or send it to the customer. And if you run a Glowforge there is no Preview at all until the machine is on.

Does my design get uploaded?

No. The geometry, time and pricing maths run in your browser. The free estimator sends nothing to a server. If you join the waitlist we store only the email, machine and note you type.

Which files work?

SVG from Inkscape, Illustrator, Affinity, the Glowforge app and most other tools. Convert text to paths first. DXF is coming with Pro. Shapes are grouped by stroke colour, or by Inkscape layer if your file uses them.
